Back around 1993 while working for CLUB CAR, I had a customer who was working at a construction site. He needed a cart that could maneuver around the jobsite to move small tools and staff. The problem was that all the golf carts he tried to use, had low ground clearance and would get stuck easily on the rough terrain. I ended up designing a "lift kit" that would allow the use of larger tires and thus gaining more ground clearance. This was not the norm as it is today. There were no such things as lifted carts back then. No kits or anything!... So out came my welder and the drawing pad!! A 5" lift was designed, and some 22" ATV tires mounted on factory steel wheels (no aftermarket wheels back then either!). I was definitely the only person in my area to even try this and the customer was overly pleased with the outcome! I have been modifying carts since then making more improvements on each one that followed.
